Edwin Jackson reeled off a total of 11 strikeouts and Prince Fielder went deep
as the Las Vegas 51's bested the Desert Xtreme 6 to 3 at Target
Field.
Jackson(1-0) pitched well for Las Vegas in their victory. He went 8 innings
and surrended up 9 hits and no walks. Las Vegas managed 11 hits in their
victory.
Jackson got help from Jonathan Papelbon who earned his 3rd save. Jason
Hammel(0-1) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits and 2
walks in 6 innings.
Jackson was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out
there. The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the
victory and I'll sure take 11 strikeouts anytime!'

Andrew McCutchen provided much of the offense. He delivered a base-hit
scoring two baserunners in the 3rd inning, doubled bringing in a run in the
7th inning and cracked a two-run shot in the 8th inning. Desert threatened
in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Smith(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. The right-handed Gee
had his no-hit bid broken up by Curtis Granderson who tripled with nobody out
in the 6th inning. Jonathan Papelbon recorded his 2nd save. Tommy
Hunter(0-1) was given the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and no walks
in 1 and 1/3 innings.

Bumgarner(1-0) gave Hollywood a solid outing. He didn't allow much, just 5

Dillon Gee(0-1) suffered the loss. 'Everything felt great' Bumgarner said. 'I
had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'

Stephen Strasburg had a complete game as the Hollywood Squares topped the Las
Vegas 51's by a score of 6 to 1 at Target Field.
Hollywood went ahead for good in the top of the 3rd inning plating 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Strasburg started the inning off right when he drew a
walk. After an out was recorded, Trevor Crowe stepped up to the plate and he
doubled. Allen Craig then doubled. That scoring would be all that was
needed. Hollywood managed 16 hits in their victory.
The win was credited to Strasburg(1-0) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.
Jonathan Pettibone(0-1) was the loser. He was unable to control the
Hollywood offense and allowed 12 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.
